Profoundly Ignorant

I heard the phrase "profoundly ignorant" used by a TV business commentator in describing a magazine article. I really liked the phrase.

That made me think, too.

I have been and am profoundly ignorant about any number of things. A few of these I know now after learning something about the subjects. But the vast remainder I know not.

That's because it takes a certain amount of knowledge to raise one's level of ignorance to the profound level.

Otherwise one is simply blissfully unaware.

Nothing really wrong with that as long as it is maintained privately.

After many years of negative experience it is my conclusion that the trick is to attempt silence regularly and consistently in order to shield from public notice the depth of one's own stupidity. That way the public is safer.

Not that I have arrived mind you but I am trying.

Love this post. It made me laugh out loud. I never thought about ignorance quite like that but come to think of it, blissful ignorance keeps one peacefully serene. ;-}

Excellent post! I read it and the one right before it together - and don't you just wish that some of the hateful people (the group that seems to multiply by the minute) would just be happy (and quiet) in profound ignorance? As opposed to loud in profound ignorance?

Most of us, once we get out of our circle of knowledge are "profoundly ignorant."
Listen to a sports biggie talk about anything else.
And some of us have a really narrow circle!
But, Terry, quiet is so difficult!!

This must be why the Bible repeatedly tell us to be quiet...... :) Very hard for me!

I had to think about this for a minute. There are many subjects about which I can claim ignorance but the best part about that is that when you admit to it, you also become teachable.
